Confirmation deepens baptismal grace and bestows the gifts of the Holy Spirit upon the recipient in preparation for becoming a mature disciple of Christ. Confirmation fortifies recipients to witness, defend and share our beautiful faith by word and example.
Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation where a baptized person receives an outpouring of the Holy Spirit which unites them more perfectly to Jesus and the Church and strengthens them to live out the Church's mission.
Bishop Ricken will be coming to Oshkosh to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in 2026. The discernment and preparation process begins THIS SUMMER with individual Confirmation family meetings.

Confirmation preparation for teens occurs in a series of small group sessions focused on encountering Jesus and personalized spiritual growth for each person that incorporates conversations with sponsors and family. Teens also must attend a retreat and explore ministry and service opportunities as part of their formation.
Catholics who have been baptized may receive Confirmation. It is usually open to those over the age of 16 who have also received their First Communion.
Note: If you are an adult who has not yet – for whatever reason – received the Sacrament of Confirmation - you are welcome to participate in preparation and discernment as well! We have individual and group preparation options for adults as well as teenagers.
