"He who sings prays twice." - Saint Augustine
Cantors are skilled singers who volunteer their time and talent to lead the congregation in song at various masses, prayer services or other occasions when needed throughout the calendar year. In addition to singing hymns, they are called to proclaim the Word of God by leading the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation, as well as leading the assembly in singing prayerful responses throughout the liturgy.
Cantors should possess a pleasant, yet strong voice that can be heard and understood clearly, have a charism / gift for using music to pray & worship, and be available for mutually agreed upon rehearsals with our music coordinator.
We are blessed as a parish community to have several volunteer musicians willing to share their time and talent to join our organ and piano accompaniment to further enhance select weekend liturgies, as well as feast days, holy days and other special occasions between September and June.
We have historically had brass ensembles, string accompaniment, and flute soloists, but are open to any musical gifts that can help our community grow in prayer and worship.
